Setting Sail Program

MMHC offers financial support through a pre-paid PEX card program for 3 to 6 months to empower youth, 17-21 years old, in Waldo County, who are young adults facing home insecurity.

If you are a school counselor, a community organization, or a church and want more information on how to refer a youth who would benefit this program contact: youth.mmhc@gmail.com

These emancipated or young adults are independent and sometimes need assistance as they transition into paying rent, buying food, clothing, etc, and are learning to provide for themselves. This program empowers these young adults as they start job training, college, or a part time job. The goals are to help them have a stable home as they work and/or continue their education, and provide opportunities to build their financial wellness through Maine’s FAME program, all of which are needed to successfully age into the community and to avoid being or becoming homeless.

Youth must be referred by a school counselor or a community organization such as a social support organization, a church, or the Belfast Teen Center or have been in a MMHC Youth Support program.
