Youth Home Port Program

The Youth Home Port Program provides financial support to help home insecure youth, age 16-21, in Waldo County to avoid being or becoming homeless.

Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition (MMHC) will provide funds monthly that can be used to help offset costs of food, clothing, school expenses, transportation, or other needs to allow the youth to avoid homelessness as they stay with an appropriate family in the community. For youth in the program, both the adult head of household and the youth will receive a monthly prepaid Visa card for several months before re-application.

Youth must stay in school or have a job and remain in the household to be in compliance. Any changes in the head of the household or anyone over 18-years-old living in the household need to be communicated with Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition (MMHC).

Registration in this program requires that five types of paperwork must be completed and submitted to Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition before any funding can begin. The required paperwork includes: youth application, head of household application, indemnity agreement, a background check authorization, and parental/legal guardian consent forms.
