We are thrilled and so pleased to share with you that the local organization, But Still I Am One, which has served at-risk youth in Waldo County since 2021, is joining us at the Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition so that community-based prevention, youth support, and Family Harbor House’s transitional housing services will all be under one organization. See “Programs for Youth” in the menu above.
Thank you for your continued support of Family Harbor House! This transitional housing for families has become a reality. It welcomed its first families on January 3, 2026, and now houses four families. Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition (MMHC) works to end the cycle of homelessness for individual families in Waldo County, Maine through innovation and collaboration around affordable housing and this program is designed to do just that.
Family Harbor House also seeks compassionate community members to assist local families experiencing homelessness. Our transitional housing program provides a safe, welcoming place for parents and children to rest, regroup, and work toward stable, permanent housing. If you are interested in volunteer possibilities, fill out the form on this page. You can join the 106
persons already approved and trained to volunteer.
Upcoming Event:
In-Person & Zoom Meeting for Family Harbor House Volunteers
Thursday, May 21, 2026, THURSDAY EVENING at 6PM and FRIDAY MORNING at 9am Location: Belfast UU Church, 37 Miller Street (behind the library)
Hello fabulous volunteers helping at Family Harbor House. After getting your feedback from a survey of available times that you might have, we picked two dates to have in-person meetingswith volunteers. You can join with us at the UU Church, or on Zoom.
The Sanctuary of the Belfast Unitarian Universalist Church is equipped for Zoom meetings, so we are using that location for our in-person meetings, and that way we can also easily connect anyone who wants to attend by Zoom. If you join by Zoom you will be able to listen and also speak and participate.
Thursday evening, May 21, 6-7pm
Friday morning, May 22, 9-10am
You can choose to attend either meeting that works best for you. We will also send out a link to join by Zoom. We plan to keep the meeting to no more than an hour long. We really value your help and service at Family Harbor House, and we would love to have your input, suggestions and/or answer questions related to the program and its operations.
- Thank you so much, David Beseda, Director of Family Harbor House
